Bold and Smooth: A Tempranillo with Attitude 😎
🍷 Campo Viejo Tempranillo (2021)
If you’re after a wine that’s as easygoing as a Sunday arvo, the Campo Viejo Tempranillo has you covered. This Spanish beauty’s got a nice, smooth sip that hits the sweet spot between flavourful and easy-drinking. It’s the kind of red you could pop open without overthinking, whether it be paired with a cheese board, bowl of pasta, or whatever’s left in the fridge.
True to a Tempranillo, this drop brings a hit of red fruit and a tiny hint of oak that keeps things interesting. The flavour is nicely balanced, with a soft finish that doesn’t linger too long. It’s kind of like catching up with a good mate...nothing too intense, but plenty of personality to keep you coming back for more.
It’d even be a crowd-pleaser with a group of mates who can’t agree on what wine to open. Just don't forget a corkscrew or you'll need to refer to the "Sip Tip" below.
This wine is perfect to have on hand. It can play a role during your more distinguished evenings but will also shine at a spontaneous, casual get together. And because it’s easy on the wallet, there’s no need to save it for anything fancy.

VITR Official Score: 8.5 / 10
👍 Reality vs Perception: Picked this up for $15, but it delivers a flavour that’s worth much more - think $40 or beyond.
👩🎨 Label Aesthetics: Bright and eye-catching with a splash of Spanish colour. It’ll look good on any shelf or picnic table.
👴 Comparison to Nonno’s Home Brew: Not quite as bold as Nonno’s, but it’s got that smoothness he’d appreciate. You might be beginning to notice that Nonno is hard to impress.
🪩 Fit for an Engagement Party: Definitely consider...it’s the perfect middle-ground red that’ll keep everyone happy, but is pushing the limit of our $15 budget.
🤑 Keep the Change: No change left this time but still a win in our books, you may just need to dig out some snacks from the back of the pantry.
Real Talk
📖 Fake It 'Til You Make It
Balance: When everything in the wine (acidity, tannins, alcohol, fruit) works together, like a perfectly assembled IKEA chair.

💡 Sip Tip
Open Without a Corkscrew: No corkscrew? Push the cork into the bottle with the handle of a wooden spoon. It’s not pretty, but hey, you get to drink the wine!

🍿 Sip & Snack
Tempranillo & Nachos: Tempranillo stands up to gooey cheese, spicy jalapeños, and all the extras. It’s a fiesta in every bite.
