🍷 Tempus Two Varietal Prosecco (2024)

After a few issues of reds in a row, our taste buds were starting to feel like they’d been camping in the outback for too long - dusty, a bit parched, and ready for something fresher.

We found this one sitting pretty at $10 (down from the everyday $11.99 at Dan Murphy’s), right in that sweet spot for Vine in the Rough finds. Hailing from New South Wales - a state we don’t dip into all that often for these reviews - it had the sort of clean, understated bottle design that whispers “class” rather than shouts it. If we had our way, it’d have a bit of foil up top for that satisfying peel before the "pop", but maybe we’re just nostalgic given most Proseccos steer clear of this.

This drop had us nodding in approval. Crisp, dry, and dangerously easy to drink - the kind of Prosecco you pour “just a splash” of and then wonder why the bottle’s empty before the cheese platter arrives. Our only advice: serve it colder than a penguin’s picnic...the colder, the better, so get that bottle in the fridge hours before you even think about cracking it.

Here’s the thing - if someone plonked this in front of us at a restaurant and told us it was $49, we wouldn’t even raise an eyebrow. The taste completely upgrades its reputation, and for a tenner, it’s punching way above its weight.

Honestly, we can’t think of a single reason not to give this one a whirl, as unless you’re strictly anti-Prosecco, it may very well be a 9 or even 10 for you. At this price, it’s one of those bottles you’ll want to keep stocked in the fridge for “just in case” situations...and by that, we mean any time the sun’s out and you feel like celebrating absolutely nothing.

VITR Official Score: 8 / 10

👍 Reality vs Perception: Drinks like something three or four times the price - your mates may think you’ve splashed out.

👩‍🎨 Label Aesthetics: Minimal, stylish, and a safe bet for any table setting.

👴 Comparison to Nonno’s Home Brew: He may like it, if we can convince him to give it a go.

🪩 Fit for an Engagement Party: Absolutely - and will help stretch your budget.

🤑 Keep the Change: Enough for a block of triple-cream brie to go with it.

Real Talk

📖 Fake It 'Til You Make It

Zesty Finish: Drop this one mid-sip with a wise nod. Sounds like you’ve been moonlighting as a wine judge, even if you’ve just been drinking out of the picnic plastic cups.

💡 Sip Tip

20/20 Trick: On warm days, give your reds a quick 20-min chill before serving so they’re not warmer than your Nan’s lounge. For whites (non-sparkling), pull ’em out of the fridge 20-min early so they’re not cold enough to give you brain freeze.

🍿 Sip & Snack

Prosecco & Fish Tacos: Light, fresh, and a bit of zest. Perfect for a sunny afternoon when you want to feel like you’re on holiday without leaving the backyard.

Until Next Issue, Cheers 🍷

A crisp, refreshing NSW sparkler that’s easy on the wallet and easy to love. Proof that you don’t need to drop big dollars to drink like you have.

Here’s to the next hidden gem - red, white, or sparkling. 🍷
