💎 One Of Your Hidden Gems 💎

We don’t usually find ourselves reaching for a Rosé, but when one of our subscribers insisted we try this bottle, we took the hint. And we’re so glad we did. Turns out, we may be pouring pink a little more often from now on.

A Rosé Worth the Detour 🛣️

🍷 La Planchelière Cabernet d'Anjou Rosé (2023)

This French import has been doing its thing for over a decade, and for good reason. Consistency in the wine world is a big deal - some vintages are hit-or-miss, but this one seems to have delivered year after year like a trusty old Hilux. That’s a solid reputation to have.

Now, we know some of you hear “Rosé” and immediately picture something syrupy sweet. But this one sits right in that goldilocks zone between sweet and dry, pleasantly refreshing without making your teeth feel like they need a deep clean. A very welcome surprise.

It hails from the Loire Valley in France, which, let’s be honest, sounds a lot fancier than our usual bottle shop aisle. If this wine were a person, it’d be the stylish European backpacker who somehow makes drinking from a goon bag look chic.

The bottle itself is a beauty, it’s got this elegant 3D fleur de lis embossed on the neck and a delicate, feminine label. Basically, it looks like it belongs at a fancy hens party, or at least somewhere that isn’t your mate’s backyard on a wobbly plastic table.

If you’re already a Rosé fan, this one needs to be in your rotation. And if you usually find yourself reaching for a red or white instead, consider this your sign to take a scenic detour down the Rosé aisle next time you’re at the bottle-o.

VITR Official Score: 8.5 / 10

👍 Reality vs Perception: This one ticks all the boxes needed to bring that premium feel...French, glossy, and an embossed neck. You could definitely convince a mate this is worth $30 or more.

👩‍🎨 Label Aesthetics: Beautifully designed with an embossed flourish, and a case where the inside matches the outside.

👴 Comparison to Nonno’s Home Brew: This is as far from Nonno's deep reds as you can get, but I think he'd find room for this on the bar.

🪩 Fit for an Engagement Party: Absolutely. It would complement the cocktails, sequins, and questionable dance moves perfectly.

🤑 Keep the Change: No real change left on this one. Tell your mate to bring the snacks.

Real Talk

📖 Fake It 'Til You Make It

The Punt: That cheeky little dent in the bottom of a wine bottle. It's purpose? We could write an entire issue on that.

💡 Sip Tip

Cheers Like a Champion: When you're clinking glasses, lock eyes with your mate and tap 'em gently bell-to-bell like you're doing a delicate high-five.

🍿 Sip & Snack

Rosé & Prosciutto
A dry Rosé with salty prosciutto. More refreshing than a sea breeze at Bondi, this combo is pure Mediterranean magic.

Until Next Week, Cheers 🍷

We stepped outside our usual lane this week, and it paid off. If you’ve got a wine you think deserves a taste test, let us know - we’re always up for a new adventure.

Stay tuned for more. 👍
